Honoring Andrea Gibson:
A Community Reading Circle
Wednesday, July 30th • 6:30 PM ET
Accessibility: 5 steps up to the front door. We’ll be meeting INSIDE due to the heat. This is a masked event and an air filter will be running.
We gather in love and remembrance to honor the extraordinary life and legacy of Andrea Gibson, the beloved poet and queer activist who left us too soon on July 14th.
Andrea touched countless lives with their approach to love and care in their writing, as well as their exploration of gender identity, politics, and their four-year journey with cancer.
As Andrea wrote in their final poem "Love Letter from the Afterlife": "Dying is the opposite of leaving... I am more here than I ever was before." Let us feel their presence as we come together to share their words and celebrate their life.
Bring: Your favorite Andrea Gibson pieces to share, or simply come to listen
We'll provide: A collection of Andrea's work to read from and explore together
This is a space for community, for grief, for celebration, and for the kind of power that Andrea's poetry brought to so many lives. All are welcome to honor this amazing human who reminded us that poetry can be a vehicle for social change and radical love.
