Doors 6:30 | Séance 7PM
To support the May performances of Sappho's Salon, an immersive theater experience honoring the multiracial lineage of lesbian and queer women artists from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
You are invited to a Sapphic Séance on Friday the 13th of March at Dyke+ ArtHaus. Doors at 6:30pm, the spirits will begin to be summoned at 7pm.
Sapphic artist Hilma af Klint leads a séance, calling forth the spirits of legendary sapphic and queer women from across history. As each spirit is "summoned," they appear to the audience and share something, perhaps a short dance, a poem, a song, a monologue, a tarot reading, a moment. Then they fade back into the beyond and the next spirit is called.
You, our dear audience, are the guests/donors at the séance table. The evening is part fundraiser, part variety show, part spooky queer magic. Expect spooky performances, artistic encounters from beyond the grave, sapphic history and a ghostly raffle.
All funds go directly toward the production of Sappho’s Salon - props, materials, costumes, and paying our artists. Capacity is limited to 20 guests to keep the séance intimate.
Produced by Butch Mermaid Productions, with generous support from Philly Ghost Tours.
